Currently the building has a recording studio in the basement, performance space at ground level and now studios on the top. neo-goth: back in black 2008
- The Art Museum at The University of Queensland 25 July - 21 September
goth/ emo/ surf/ indie/ punk: something decidedly dark is permeating all aspects of contemporary culture. From its subcultural origins in eighteenth century literature, through to the movement's dedicated tribes of black-clad youths in the 1980s, Goth culture is no longer underground or fringe, but mainstream. Is this 'new' interpretation of the Gothic aesthetic just that – an aesthetic – or is the neo-Goth impulse a considered response to a darker, more pessimistic world? The major exhibition neo goth dips beneath the surface and takes a peak at the noir underbelly of Australian culture as it is manifested across art, fashion, film and literature. neo goth includes such emerging and established artists as Deidre But-Husaim, Shaun Gladwell, Louise Hearman, Bill Henson, Amanda Marburg, eX de Medici, Scott Redford, David Stephenson, and Ricky Swallow.

May 08 :: artlife interview - Just Say No ...

I have withdrawn my painting Beauty Marks (boy boy) from The Churchie held by the Anglican Church Grammar School. When I entered I was not aware of the schools decision to ban same-sex partners of final year students from their formal. If I had known of this decision at the time I would not have entered. We all need to put an end to discrimination and homophobia.
